Purpose of the procedure

Anti-wrinkle injections help restore the face’s natural freshness and balance by softening expression lines and improving skin elasticity. The aim is a natural-looking, rested and harmonious result without an overdone appearance. The procedure may be suitable if you wish to:

Course of the procedure

The procedure usually takes 20–45 minutes and involves injections of hyaluronic acid or botulinum toxin. The injection sites are marked precisely to achieve a symmetrical result while preserving natural facial expression.

• Hyaluronic acid restores volume and hydration to the skin.
• Botulinum toxin relaxes overactive muscles, smoothing expression lines.

Where necessary, a follow-up adjustment may be made after two to four weeks.

Results

Results are visible either immediately or within a few days:

• The effect of botulinum toxin becomes apparent within three to seven days
• The effect of hyaluronic acid fillers is visible immediately
• The results last for four to twelve months, depending on the product used and the area treated.

Consultation and preparation

Before the procedure, Dr Simmo will assess the condition of your skin, your facial proportions and your individual needs. A treatment plan will be prepared based on your facial anatomy and the desired result. The consultation can also begin remotely by email or video call using photographs. You should avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medication on the day before the procedure.  How to prepare for your consultation

Anaesthesia

In most cases, a numbing cream is sufficient. Hyaluronic acid fillers often contain a local anaesthetic, making the procedure comfortable and nearly painless.

Recovery and aftercare

Mild redness and swelling may occur after the procedure and usually subside within one to three days. A cold compress may be applied to reduce bruising. Sauna use, strenuous exercise and vigorous massage of the treated area should be avoided for 24 hours. You can resume your normal activities on the same day or the following day.

Side effects are usually temporary and may include redness, swelling and minor bruising. In rare cases, tenderness or slight asymmetry may occur. Where necessary, this can be corrected at a follow-up appointment. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved, providing an additional measure of safety.
