During the operation, the tissues are reshaped and excess skin is removed where necessary. The extent of the surgery depends on the patient’s anatomy and treatment goals, whether these involve restoring symmetry, relieving discomfort or making an aesthetic correction. The procedure takes approximately 30–90 minutes and is performed under local or general anaesthesia, depending on the extent of the surgery and the patient’s preferences. In most cases, you can go home on the same day. The area can remain sensitive and sore for up to one week, but you can return to work after five to seven days.

Mild to moderate soreness can occur after the operation and subsides within a few days. Exercise, sauna use and sexual intercourse should be avoided for approximately four to six weeks, until the tissues have fully healed. Most patients can return to work and normal daily activities within one week.
Possible side effects include minor bruising, temporary swelling, changes in sensation and infection. In rare cases, scarring or slight asymmetry can occur. These can be corrected where necessary. All risks and the measures used to reduce them will be discussed thoroughly during the consultation.
