Nipple correction can change the shape, size or position of the nipples to create a more aesthetically even and harmonious appearance.
Nipple shape and position vary from person to person. Some nipples are inverted, while others may be larger, longer or positioned at different heights. These are entirely normal anatomical variations. However, where they cause discomfort, they can often be corrected with a straightforward procedure. Nipple correction helps restore a natural shape and proportion while preserving sensation and, where possible, the ability to breastfeed.
Different surgical techniques are used depending on the nature of the concern and the patient’s goals.
The procedure usually takes 30–60 minutes and is performed under local anaesthesia. Where nipple correction is combined with a larger procedure, such as a breast lift or augmentation, all procedures are performed during the same operation under general anaesthesia.

An initial assessment can also be provided through an online consultation based on photographs. Both aesthetic and functional expectations will be discussed. The procedure is usually performed under local anaesthesia and is painless. Where nipple correction is combined with another breast procedure, such as a lift or augmentation, general anaesthesia is used. You can go home on the same day.
Mild swelling or tenderness may occur after the procedure and subsides within a few days. The stitches are normally removed after four to six days. You can return to work the following day, although strenuous physical activity should be avoided for about one week. The nipple area should be kept clean and dry. Strong pressure or friction, including from tight bras, should be avoided. The result settles within two to three months, and the scars gradually become barely noticeable. Most patients can resume their normal daily activities the following day.
In rare cases, minor bruising, scarring or changes in sensation around the nipple may occur. After the correction of inverted nipples, the nipple may partially retract again over time, although this is uncommon. All possible risks and the measures used to reduce them will be discussed thoroughly during the consultation.
Nipple correction is a minor, precise and delicate procedure that can significantly improve appearance and confidence. Where possible, the milk ducts and nerves are preserved during surgery to maintain sensation and the ability to breastfeed. The procedure can also be combined with other breast surgery, such as a breast lift, augmentation or fat transfer, to achieve a balanced, natural-looking result. The results are long-lasting. Any subsequent changes are mainly associated with pregnancy, breastfeeding and changes in skin elasticity over time.
