Thigh liposuction

Purpose of the procedure

Liposuction of the thighs and flanks removes excess fatty tissue from areas that do not respond to exercise or diet. The aim is a balanced body contour – slimmer thighs, a smoother transition to the hips and a more defined waistline. The result is natural-looking, restores the body’s proportions and allows clothes to fit better. “Liposuction does not turn you into a different person – it restores the body’s natural proportions and ease of movement.” – Dr Simmo

Course of the procedure

Liposuction is performed through small incisions of up to 4 mm, positioned in concealed areas along the inner and outer thighs, flanks or waistline. A fine cannula is used to remove fatty tissue by suction while preserving a smooth, natural contour. The procedure usually takes up to two hours. It is performed under local anaesthesia in most cases and under general anaesthesia for more extensive corrections. Liposuction can be combined with skin tightening or fat transfer to other areas to improve the overall result.

Consultation and preparation

During the consultation, we will assess skin elasticity, fat distribution and body proportions. Together with you, we will discuss what result is realistic and whether combining treatment areas, such as the thighs and abdomen or thighs and hips, would create a more even silhouette. The doctor will also explain how much fat can be removed safely and how unevenness is prevented.  How to prepare for your consultation

Anaesthesia

The procedure is usually performed under local anaesthesia, but for larger liposuction, general anaesthesia is used. The patient can go home on the same day.

Recovery and aftercare

A compression garment is worn after the procedure to reduce swelling and help the skin adapt to the new body contour. Swelling and bruising usually subside within two weeks. You can return to work after a few days, but strenuous physical activity should be avoided for up to four weeks. The final result becomes visible within eight weeks, once the tissues have fully recovered.

Possible side effects and risks

Temporary swelling, tenderness and bruising are common. In rare cases, changes in skin sensation or slight unevenness can occur. These resolve over time. The procedure is safe when the doctor’s instructions are followed and the compression garment is worn for the prescribed period.

Good to know!

  • Liposuction is a body-contouring procedure, not a weight-loss method.
  • The best result is achieved when body weight remains stable and a balanced lifestyle is maintained.
  • The procedure can be combined with liposuction of the abdomen, buttocks or knees to create a more even overall result.
